"Masked Arts" (April 2020)
Recycled Arts Installation by Poramit Thantapalit
Face mask installation made from discarded clothing and cyanotype print (size: site-specific installation)
I made face masks for my friend and family to use during the Covid-19 pandemic. I made them from my discarded clothing and my cyanotype prints with my sewing machine. For a week, I completed over 40 pieces. After I sent them out, I continued making more until I had enough to create the large installation. I turned useful face masks to be a kinetic mobile and wall installation. Each mask has a unique different design and pattern. It represents an individual person that lives in our community and is quarantined at home during the pandemic. It is multi-purposed art installation, recycled art and useable face masks for protection.
