Sense and Sustainability: Passaic County Arts Center
(February 27 - May 30, 2021)
This solo exhibition created by Poramit Thantapalit is a collection of 30 artwork that he created from 2012-2020. Poramit uses various techniques to create three dimensional pieces made from recycled materials including plastic, paper, fabric, reclaimed wood, and found objects. He also shows his cyanotype prints that he created from his recycled sculptures. This exhibition will display two- and three-dimensional works that will provide the viewer different perspectives and awareness on helping make our environment cleaner and slow global warming and climate change. Guests will also have experience with video projection, light effects and scent in the dark atmosphere.
"This installation represents an artists connection to their environment. Featuring art work made with plastic bags and bottles, and discarded fabrics, provides commentary on the impact of waste on the natural environment. Through the mindful selection of these materials found in our everyday setting, the artist encourages the conversation about the waste generated in hopes to inspire how we interact with everyday things - with the overarching goal to protect the environment in which we live." • Curated by the artist, Poramit Thantapalit
