"Unseen Sea" Recycled Art Installation: Rotunda Art Gallery, City Hall Jersey City
(Jan 10 - March 10, 2020)
This installation made from recycled materials such as plastic bags, plastic bottles, paper mache and discarded clothing. (Taking 5 days to finish the installation from Jan 5-9, 2020) The tallest installation I have ever made over 20 feet tall and 20 feet diameter at the center of rotunda staircase. You can see the installation in 360 and different angles from the 3rd, 2nd and 1st floor.
Thanks to City of Jersey City, Office of Cultural Affairs and Greg BrIckey, Curator for giving me the opportunity to feature my installation
Opening Reception: Friday January 17, 2020. 6-8pm
Location: City Hall, Rotunda Gallery, 280 Grove St Jersey City, NJ - Open to public Mon-Fri 9am-10pm, Sat&Sun 10am- 4pm
Description:
The installation using recycled material to create the atmosphere under the sea. It represents the future of the planet and ocean environment that are in danger from trash and plastic pollution. It shows the ocean in a different way than we are used to seeing it. The installation displayed mobile sculptures hanging from the ceiling. They are made of plastic bottles, plastic bags and paper mache. They represent marine life such as jellyfish, sea urchins, coral reef and ocean waves. One of the main materials are plastic bags. I would like to remind everybody to stop using the plastic. Plastic bags and plastic bottles will not decompose in our environment and harm our earth. I hope this installation will remind people to help keep our environment clean.
