This was my 2nd year participating in "Wildlife Visual Art Exhibit" at Bergen County Zoo. I exhibited my cyanotype print and mixed media art on May 6, 2023

2. I know some students do not have photoshop software. I find the safe website for freedownload. This is a Photoshop CS2 free download I already test and working...no spam or virus. It is very old software. It will not work with latest OS computer.

5. Making digital negative from your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Samsung S3-S4). These are steps to follow:

• Download adobe photoshop express app (PSX) from your Apple store or Play store.
• Open your image from camera roll in PSX app
• Using 2 filter effect black & white and invert to make your image become digital negative.
• You can also use their image adjustment function to enhance your image. Experiment with exposure, highlight, brightness & contrast and sharpness until you get the image that you like.
• Save your negative image to camera roll. 
• Set up your iCloud (skip this step if your iCloud already set up). You will be able to print out negative image from your home computer. Also you can transfer files via Dropbox. Or print your image from iPhone direct to the printer via AirPrint. 
• In case you have photoshop software in your home computer. You may apply cyanotype curve setting (see page 12 cyanotype curve and adjustment on 102 book, see 4A section on page 4 in the 101 book) before you print them out. 

6. Additional information to enhance your black and white photo before invert to negative file. For student who need to fix the lighten and darken in specific area on your photo. This video will show you how to convert color images to black-and-white, and explores the target adjustment tool. View the video

Christian Marclay - Cyanotypes
A new body of works

"Cyanotypes" documents six distinct series of cyanotypes produced by visual artist, performer, and composer Marclay in collaboration with Graphicstudio. Known as the inventor of "turntablism," Marclay has explored the relationship between visual and sonic phenomena through his work in collage, sculpture, installation, photography, video, and performance. In the cyanotypes, Marclay reclaims the obsolete technology of the audiocassette as a tool for visual abstraction. First developed in the 1840s, the cyanotype is cameraless photographic process performed by placing objects directly onto a photosensitive surface, resulting in a silhouetted image similar to a photogram. Commonly known as "blueprints" because of their distinctive Prussian blue hue, cyanotypes were famously used by 19th century botanist Anna Atkins and later by architects and engineers as a way of reproducing drawings prior to digital reproduction. Marclay's cyanotypes capture the abstract tangles made by unspooled cassette tapes, inviting comparisons with the paintings of Jackson Pollock and other 20th century artists.

Designed by Swiss design firm NORM in close collaboration with the artist, the volume includes an in-depth study of Marclay's experimentation and utilization of the cyanotype process and its broader contextualization with the history of the avant-garde by scholar Noam Elcott.
